When a position opens, the Division/Department Heads work with the Employee Recruitment & Retention Manager to ensure the job description is current to the responsibilities and requirements of the position. Once updated, the position is posted.

The search committee consists of a Division/Department Head plus faculty/staff representation. For Early Childhood and Lower School, the grade level faculty members are on the committee. For Middle School, both department and grade level faculty are included. For staff openings, members of the hiring department are members of the committee. 

Positions are posted on our website and on various job boards, such as the Southwestern Association of Episcopal Schools (SAES) and the Independent Schools Association of the Southwest (ISAS). We also use recruiting groups such as Southern Teachers. School leaders attend recruiting fairs, and we ask our faculty for referrals of candidates whom they respect and deem a fit for our community. The school has also made hiring a priority by holding an annual on-campus job fair, which has led to the successful hire of many great employees!

The search committee reviews resumes and completes screening interviews as needed.

The search committee narrows the candidate pool down to the top two or three and invites them to campus for in-depth interviews. Faculty candidates will teach a classroom lesson and interview with faculty, students, administrators, and the Head of School. Staff candidates will interview with members of their intended department, members of adjacent departments, and the Head of School.

Comments from interviewers on each candidate are submitted to the Head of School, who meets with the Division/Department Head to make the final choice. The Human Resources department then calls references, performs background checks, and follows up on the candidate. Finally, an offer of employment is extended.
