Educator Workshop- Bringing the Music Out in Every Child
Join Good Shepherd Episcopal School’s experienced music educators to learn creative ways to teach music to students in grades PreK through 8th grade using the Orff approach. This lively workshop will be hosted by talented faculty members Jessica Grant, Erica Rocha, and Jennifer Ross.

The workshop will include ideas for engaging students, classroom management strategies, and ways to guide original student compositions. Participants will learn how to create inspirational musical programs which incorporate what is being taught in the classroom. Participants will sing, dance, and play as they rotate through early childhood, lower school, and middle school lessons presented by the hosts. Attendees will also receive an example of a program that can be taken back to their own schools. Cost is $25 per registrant.
Jessica Grant is the Middle School Music teacher and has taught grades 5-8 for four years. Before coming to Good Shepherd, she taught elementary music in public schools for 14 years. She has a BME in Music Education from Lee University in Cleveland, TN, and a MM in Music Education from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX. She received her Orff Certification from Trinity University and SMU and has completed two levels of Kodaly Training. Jessica was the Hospitality Chair for the National AOSA Conference in 2018 and is currently the Co-Hospitality Chair for the North Texas Orff Chapter. She is a member of TMEA, OAKE, ARS, AOSA, and NTAOSA. She is the host of the Afternoon Ti podcast on iTunes and Stitcher, a podcast designed for music educators.
Erica is the Lower School Music teacher and has taught elementary music in both public and private schools for five years. She graduated from the University of North Texas in 2010 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education. She received her Orff Certification from Southern Methodist University in 2014. She has also completed two levels of Kodaly Training at Southern Methodist University. She is a member of TMEA, AOSA, and NTAOSA, where she serves as Membership Co-Chair.
Jennifer Ross is the Early Childhood Music teacher and has been teaching for 14 years in public and private settings in Dallas, Garland, Georgetown, and Arlington, TX. She graduated from the University of North Texas and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education. She is a member of TMEA, AOSA, NTAOSA and completed Orff Level I at Trinity University. Jennifer is also a member of FAME and is certified to teach First Steps in Music.
