Children aged 6 months - 4 years. We offer classes for children who are 6-months-old by September 1. Children may not turn four before September 1 to participate in our Butterflies class. 

Ratios vary based on the age of the children. 

6-12 months, ratio is 1:4

12-24 months, ratio is 1:5

Older than 24 months, ratio is 1:6

Classes are divided into approximately six to eight-month age ranges. Age is only one of the factors we consider when placing a child.

PDO is located in the east wing of Good Shepherd Episcopal Church at 11122 Midway Road. It is easiest to access PDO from the parking lot off Northaven Road.

Each class schedule varies due to the age of the group. A typical day includes free play, arts and crafts, manipulative activities, lunch, story time, circle time, creative movement/music class, playground, and an outing in a 6-seat stroller for children younger than 24 months.

Each class is designed with developmentally-appropriate activities. All classes will take a nap, except for the Butterflies class. 

Once children are eating solid foods, PDO provides a child-friendly snack and water daily at mid-morning. Children in Extended Day will also be given an afternoon snack.

Parents send their child's lunch each day in a divided container, as well as a full water bottle.

A rest period is included in your child's schedule and takes place after lunch until approximately 1:45 p.m. Your child is not required to sleep, however each child is expected to remain quiet and on their nap mat to allow their classmates to sleep. This applies to all classes except the Butterflies who will not nap.

We encourage potty-training to take place over a holiday, long weekend, or PDO break to make the transition easier. Children will not be able to wear "big kid" underwear until they are secure in the process. Also, children in the Butterflies classes are expected to be completely potty-trained and able to use the restroom independently prior to beginning the school year.
