Distance Learning Extended, From the Head of School

Dear Good Shepherd Community,

With the ongoing uncertainty surrounding COVID-19, and the latest executive order from Texas Governor Greg Abbott, we will continue our distance learning program and extend the suspension of on-campus learning and activities through May 4th. We know these suspension extensions are resulting in some postponed student experiences, particularly through field trips, COE excursions, choir and music sharings, as well as other traditional on-campus activities set for the spring. GSPO socials and the Super Dads’ Golf event have also been postponed for our families. This situation is very disappointing for us as well. We are continuing to work on alternatives and possibilities for these experiences in the future, and we will reach out to you as we have a clearer time frame for our return to campus.

We continue to closely monitor the COVID-19 situation, and we will provide additional updates to you as they are available. These next two weeks are critical in mitigating this pandemic, according to the President of the United States and the COVID-19 Task Force, and particularly within our own community. Please continue to adhere to the CDC and Dallas County guidelines, and remain safely at home with your families.

Thank you for your overwhelming response to last Friday’s feedback survey! It appears we are currently on the right track with our distance learning plans, and we will continue to ask for your input as we move forward in the weeks to come. We appreciate you sharing your experiences with us, and we hope your children have enjoyed virtually reconnecting with their teachers and classmates.

Thank you for your flexibility, support, and continued grace, as we traverse this new frontier together.

Best regards,

Julie McLeod, Ph.D.
Head of School
