Dear Good Shepherd Families,
"Our Future Is Strong" is a series of brief, informative emails/posts which began on April 30, 2020 to keep the community informed about our preparations for our return to campus.
In this tenth edition, we welcome you back to school for the 2020-2021 school year!
I hope you all have had time to relax and reconnect as a family during the summer! We have been busy at Good Shepherd preparing for our return to campus after our campus-wide distance learning in the spring. We have been communicating regularly with you about our return through Our Future Is Strong. I hope you have found those communications helpful and informative.
By now, you have selected whether your child will come to campus on September 8th or participate in distance learning for the trimester. You’ve also likely read our Campus Re-entry Protocols document cover to cover! We understand that this can be a stressful time for everyone. Each family will need to make the best decision for their own circumstances. We will not judge anyone else’s circumstances, but stand ready to support your family whether you select on campus or distance learning. While this school year will be different from any we’ve experienced, I know that our community and our faith foundation will create an experience from which we will all grow and thrive.
If you haven’t already done so, please complete and submit your child’s Medical Certificate and Parent Consent Form to the Nurse’s Office as these are required by law before the first day of school. At the end of this email is a list of linked documents that will give you helpful information as you begin to think about the beginning of the school year. These documents are particularly important this year as there are many adjustments we made. We encourage you to check out these, and other documents, on our website on the Community page.
In the coming days, you’ll have the opportunity to meet your child’s teacher or advisor, as well as opportunities to connect or reconnect with the leaders of each Academic Division. Feel free to take a moment to thank all of these folks in advance. They have already spent an incredible amount of time and energy preparing to make this year very special for your child. And this is just the beginning!
Carpool - Please look for detailed maps and instructions early next week.
We anticipate more communication from Dallas County prior to September 8th. We are in constant communication with the other Heads of Schools from area Independent Schools and Dallas County and will use all available data to make the best decision possible for our community. We are still working toward our full re-entry to campus on September 8th and will continue to update you with Our Future Is Strong on an as-needed basis. We have also posted the series on our Coronavirus (COVID-19) webpage for your reference.
Together we are #gsesStrong,
Julie McLeod, Ph.D.
