Welcome to Our New Middle School Chaplain!

Please join our Head of School, Dr. Julie McLeod, in welcoming our new, full-time Middle School Chaplain, Father Matthew Crownover. This position is for the 2021-2022 school year, but Father Crownover has agreed to join us on April 6th to get to know the Good Shepherd community, so he can hit the ground running this fall. Father Gardner will finish the school year as our Middle School Chaplain, and we are so grateful for his contributions to the school as our part-time Middle School Chaplain. We thank him for keeping our chapel and religious education classes moving forward for our students while we continued our search for a full-time chaplain.

With Father Mills playing an integral role in the search, we believe we found an incredible match in someone who is called to this ministry and loves what we are doing at Good Shepherd! Father Crownover received an undergraduate degree from Austin College and his Master of Divinity from Perkins School of Theology at SMU. In his pastoral role, he has worked in many areas of outreach, including care for the homeless, mission work, and chaplain for area hospitals. He also works every summer at Ghost Ranch in New Mexico leading spiritual, outdoor adventures. Father Crownover is fluent in Spanish and is looking to use his outdoor experience to assist with COE trips.

He will spend time this spring assisting in chapel, attending religious education classes, going on COE trips, getting involved in our service opportunities, and generally getting to know the students, faculty, and staff.

We are so excited for Father Crownover to join our community.
