Spiritual Formation classes begin Sunday, September 12th at GSEC! We have options for all age groups:
The Adult Forum | Parish Hall
A mixture of lecture and small group discussion, this forum begins the fall with a series on How to Connect with People. (Re)learn those vital skills necessary to connect well with others, especially in a small group setting.
The Family Forum | Kincaid
September 12 – October 3: Post-Pandemic Parenting
How do we move forward after a historic and life-changing year? It has been a time with many challenges and even some gifts, especially for those with kids and teenagers at home. In this series, we will work together to reflect on the year behind us and get tools and strategies for parenting stronger post-pandemic.
Godly Play (Pre-K – 1st Grade) | Education Wing
Based on Montessori principles, Godly Play invites children to enter into the Biblical story and wonder about the big questions of the faith. The Godly Play approach helps young people explore their faith and gain religious language to enhance their spiritual experience of worship and wonder.
Brick by Brick (2nd – 5th Grade) | Education Wing
Building Faith Brick by Brick offers a culturally relevant, hands-on way to explore faith stories. Students in 2nd through 5th grades, who aren’t singing in the Junior Choir, are invited to come and learn about Bible stories by building with LEGOS.
Junior Choir (2nd – 5th Grade) | Choir Room
Junior Choir gives children the opportunity to grow in their spiritual lives, to participate in a meaningful way in our Episcopal liturgy, and to make new church friends. Alongside the music, students learn the stories behind the songs they sing, touching on things like the Bible, sacraments, and our Episcopal liturgy. Members learn to be, not merely participants in the liturgy, but leaders, helping direct our prayers and praise to God.
Confirmation (6th Grade & Older) | Stanard Hallway
Confirmation is a reaffirmation of our baptismal vows and a student’s first mature commitment to their faith. Our class runs for 10 weeks during the fall and prepares students to be confirmed by the bishop in the spring.
Junior High (7th – 8th Grade) | Youth Room
Using the curriculum TeenText, this group will be diving into the lectionary readings for each week.
High School (9th – 12th Grade) | GSES Library
This group will be using the curriculum The Wired Word with Fr. Gardner to look at events in current news and how they relate to the Bible and Christianity.
