PDO offers traditional instruction hours Monday through Thursday, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:50 p.m. Families may also register for Extended Day hours, and optional Friday instruction.

Classes are offered:

6-11 months - Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday

12-17 months - Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday

18-39 months - Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday

40-47 months - Monday, Wednesday, Thursday or Monday through Thursday

Classes run from September to May and typically follow the Good Shepherd Episcopal School calendar.

Ages 6 months – 4 years. We offer classes for children who are six months old by September 1st. Children may not have turned 4 prior to September 1st.

Ratios vary based on the age of the children. For children 6-12 months, the ratio is 1:4. For children 12-24 months, the ratio is 1:5. For children older than 24 months, the ratio is 1:6.

Classes are divided into approximate six to eight-month age ranges (i.e. 6-11 months, 12-17 months, 18-23 months, 24-31 months, 32-39 months and 40+ months). Age is only one of the factors we consider when placing a child.

PDO is located in the east wing of The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd at 11122 Midway Road. It is easiest to access PDO when parking in the parking lot off of Northaven.

Each class schedule varies due to the age of the group. However, a typical day might include: free play, craft/art, manipulative activities, lunch, story time, circle time, creative movement/music class, playground, and an outing in the 6-person stroller for children younger than 24 months. Each class is designed with developmentally age-appropriate activities. Except for the Butterfly classes, every group will take a nap.

Once children are on solid foods, PDO provides a child-friendly snack and water daily for a mid-morning snack, as well as an afternoon snack for children who stay for Extended Day. Parents send their child’s lunch in a single divided container. Two percent cow’s milk and water are provided by PDO at lunch, but this is not applicable for the 6-12 month age group.

A non-refundable registration fee of $250 and an annual supply fee of $200 are due at the time of registration. Please see below for the 2022-2023 Tuition Schedule. Tuition is due one month in advance with the first payment due on May 1st and the subsequent payment due September 1st.

A rest period is included in your child’s schedule and takes place after lunch until approximately 1:45 p.m. Your child is not required to sleep, however, each child is expected to remain quiet and still on his or her nap mat and respect friends by not disturbing or waking classmates. This applies to all classes except the Butterflies. The Butterfly class does not nap.

We encourage potty-training to take place over a holiday, long weekend, or PDO break to make the transition easier. Children will not be able to wear "big-kid undies" until they are secure in the process. Also, children in the Butterflies classes are expected to be completely potty-trained and able to use the restroom independently prior to beginning the school year.
