Do Good
Bringing our mission statement to life.
At Good Shepherd Episcopal School, community engagement is a guiding principle—an essential part of who we are. Rooted in our mission to inspire children to learn with confidence, serve with compassion, and lead with courage, this philosophy celebrates the Light in everyone: in our neighbors, families, and students.
Through our "Do Good" approach, we foster a spirit of giving that goes beyond traditional community service. We focus on service learning, a comprehensive process that engages students deeply—teaching them to recognize the needs of those they serve, foster empathy, set clear goals, work for the betterment of others, and reflect on the impact of their efforts. This intentional approach equips students not just to serve, but to create lasting, meaningful change.
How We Engage
Community engagement at Good Shepherd takes many forms, connecting learning with purposeful action.
Schoolwide Service Projects

Each year, our community unites around a major service initiative—alternating between global, national, and local focuses—selected by our Community & Belonging team.
Ongoing Acts of Giving

Throughout the year, classes and grade levels lead service-learning projects, often driven by student leadership and inspired by classroom connections.
Middle School Service Leadership Club

Our older students take on additional projects and advocacy efforts, modeling what it means to serve with compassion and lead with courage.
Community Partnerships

Collaborations with local nonprofits and organizations provide authentic opportunities for students to engage, learn, and contribute meaningfully.
Why It Matters
By integrating service learning into our culture, we empower students to act with empathy, purpose, and courage—building a foundation for a lifetime of giving and leadership.
